When I first entered the LED display industry, one of the most confusing aspects was understanding control systems. But as I got deeper into the industry, I realized how essential these control systems are to delivering stunning visuals. In this article, we will discuss some aspects about LED display control system.

What is an LED Display Control System?

An LED display control system is a comprehensive set of software and hardware designed to manage and control LED displays. By processing and transmitting signals from a source device, such as a computer, the LED display can show various different contents.

The hardware mainly contains LED display controller, receiving card, video processor, control PC, and so on.

Classifications of LED Display Control Systems:

We can classify LED control systems into two types:

Synchronous Control Systems:

Synchronous control means the display shows what is showing on the control computer at the same time. This control method is ideal for live events. It requires the control computer should be always on when the display is in operation, and can handle high resolution contents.

LED Display Control System

Asynchronous Control Systems:

In contrast, asynchronous control doesn’t need constant connection to a computer. You can upload contents in advance, and the system will run it automatically. This type of LED screen control system is often used for outdoor LED displays. It is less critical to play real-time contents in such applications.

Choosing the Right Control System for LED Displays:

Selecting the right control system can make or break your project. I remember a project where the client insisted on using a particular LED screen controller because it was cheap. But, as the saying goes, “you get what you pay for.” The display quality was poor, and we had to go back to the drawing board.

When choosing a control system, consider factors like screen size, resolution, and the type of content you’ll be displaying. For instance, a Novastar LED controller is fantastic for high-resolution displays, especially in dynamic environments like concerts or large-scale advertising. If your project is smaller and with lower resolution, you can consider to use asynchronous control system. The choices can be Novastar, Huidu, Sysolution, etc.

Another aspect can be relevant to the user experience. Some customers have been using specific LED display controllers for many years. And they will specify this controller for their new project, although it maybe not popular in the market nowadays. One of the reasons is that they are used to this controller operation.

How Do I Program My LED Display?

Programming your LED display involves a series of steps. Here is a guide on how to make it:

  1. Connect the LED Display Controller:

First, connect the LED display controller to the LED display. It can be via network cable, WiFi, or USB. Make sure the screen is connected to the controller.

  1. Install the Software:

You should know which brand of LED display controller you use for your project. And then you can download the corresponding software. For example, If using Novastar, then the common software to use is NovaLCT. If it is Linsn LED controller, then the software to download is LEDSet and LEDStudio.

  1. Configure the Software:

After the software installation, you need to check whether the configuration can meet your requirement. If not, then you need to alter the resolutions in width and height according to your LED display, Generally, MuenLED will set up all configurations during the test in our factory. Therefore, our customers can use the display directly after powering on. They don’t need to configure by themselves.

  1. Upload the Contents:

Now, you can upload contents via the software, such as LEDStudio. You can edit texts or add videos according to your needs.

Here we will list the main suppliers of LED screen control systems:

  • Novastar: It is a dominant force in the market. Novastar offers both synchronous and asynchronous control systems. Novastar LED control system is known for high quality and easy to operate. However, prices are a little higher compared to other brands.
  • Linsn: Linsn has a longer history than Novastar. Linsn LED controller excels in synchronous control, but not in asynchronous solutions. Regarding image quality on high resolution LED screens, Linsn is not as strong as Novastar.
  • Colorlight: Colorlight is not as famous as the above two brands. But it also gets a few markets share. It offers a more cost-effective option compared to Novastar. Although Colorlight excels in color processing, it may have limitations in specific niche applications.
  • Huidu: It is suitable for small LED signs. It provides asynchronous control solutions mainly, with very competitive prices.
  • Mooncell: It mainly provides solutions for irregular LED displays.
